UAE – Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees
The Insurance Authority (IA) considers 276 disputes through 13 remote hearings
207 decisions were issued remotely by the IA’s Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees.
The number of insurance disputes received by the Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees at the Insurance Authority since the commencement of its operations and functions “remotely”, reached to (561) insurance disputes in different types of insurance.
The Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees succeeded in holding (13) “remote” hearings, during which 276 insurance disputes were considered and (207) decisions were issued.
The Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees at the Insurance Authority practices its business “remotely” through two committees in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This comes as part of the of series of precautionary and preventive measures taken by the IA to ensure the safety of customers and employees and maintain public health.
Further, the IA made the service of receiving insurance complaints or disputes electronically available through the Insurance Disputes Resolution System at the IA’s website. This is part of the set of smart and electronic services provided by the IA to avoid visits and gatherings in the service centers aiming to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus “COVID-19”.
The Insurance Authority is continuously working to develop its services and dedicate its various capabilities, thus, contributing to the prompt resolution of insurance disputes and protecting the rights of all parties.
It is worth mentioning that the Insurance Dispute Settlement and Resolution Committees has been formed in implementation of Federal Law No. (3) of 2018 concerning amending certain provisions of the Federal Law No. (6) of 2007 on the Establishment of the Insurance Authority and the Organization of Insurance Operations and the amendments thereof, which entrusted the Authority to form committees to settle and resolve insurance disputes before judicial recourse.
